Until May 2010, New Zealand datum coordinates were described by orders that were based on the quality of the coordinate and the role of the survey mark. Two standards now define orders based on the combination of network accuracy (tier) and local accuracy (class).
The standards are:
- Standard for the geospatial accuracy framework (LINZS25005)
- Standard for Tiers, Classes, and Orders of LINZ Data (LINZS25006)
Accuracy terms are defined on the page Summary of LINZ Tier, Class and Order
The order of some New Zealand Geodetic Datum 2000 (NZGD2000) and Ross Sea Region Geodetic Datum 2000 (RSRGD2000) coordinates and heights changed to reflect the 2010 classifications. The New Zealand Geodetic Datum 1949 (NZGD1949) and local vertical datums have not been updated to reflect these order changes.
