Answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about scanning documents into Landonline.

Can you scan my document?

LINZ does not scan documents on behalf of customers. The only exception is for survey - in very specific situations.

Can I get a third party to scan a document for me?

There are a number of third party service providers that are able to scan documents into electronic format for you. They must be instructed to scan into the correct format for Landonline. You may find the following categories in the Yellow Pages or on yellow.co.nz useful:

What support does LINZ provide to customers for the 'adding images to instrument' process?

LINZ is able to assist you when converting electronic image file into the correct TIFF file format and uploading it into Landonline.

LINZ does not provide support for scanners, scanner software or the process of scanning a document into an electronic format. You should contact your IT support staff or service provider for assistance. If you do not currently have access to IT support, you may find the following categories in the Yellow Pages or on yellow.co.nz useful:

What is the difference between a CCITT Group 3 Fax and CCITT Group 4 Fax TIFF image?

While Landonline is able to accept both CCITT Group 4 and Group 3 Fax Compression image files, Group 4 generates a smaller size file which makes uploading into Landonline quicker.

Can you help me to repair my scanner?

LINZ does not provide support for scanners.

We recommend that you contact your supplier in the first instance. You may then be directed to contact your scanner manufacturer or a specific service provider directly.

Can you help with installing scanning software?

LINZ does not provide customers with scanning software installation support.

There is a great variety of scanning software, and each software package is installed a little differently. Furthermore, the procedure may vary depending on your particular computer setup and your particular scanner. We recommend that you consult:

  • The installation manual that came with your scanner or scanning software
  • The website of the manufacturer of your scanner or scanning software
  • The support line of the manufacturer or supplier of your scanner or scanning software.

Can you help with connecting my scanner?

LINZ does not provide customers with support for connecting scanners.

The procedure for connecting your scanner varies from scanner to scanner, and computer to computer. We recommend that you consult:

LINZ does not provide customers support for scanning or how to scan a document.

Can you recommend alternative software for my scanner?

LINZ cannot recommend alternative software for your scanner.

We can only recommend that the scanning software that you choose should be able to produce files that meet Landonline's file format requirements. Other than that, the software that is most suitable for your scanner depends on many factors such as the scanner's make and model, your computer's make and model, your operating system, and what you will be using the scanner and scanning software for.

The supplier or manufacturer of your scanner may be able to recommend alternative software. Alternatively, your IT support staff or service provider may be able to advise you. If you do not currently have access to IT support, you may find the following categories useful in the Yellow Pages or on yellow.co.nz:

Can you advise which scanner I should buy?

LINZ cannot advise you which scanner to purchase.

The scanner must be compatible with your computing environment, so we recommend that you talk to your IT support staff or service provider.
