Background | The Applicant is a forestry investor and part of the Ellis Campbell Group. The Applicant is ultimately owned by a family owned company in the United Kingdom. The land is already used as a commercial forest known as Eden Forest. The land comprises of 30.6 hectares of forestry, and 1.45 hectares of roads and infrastructure, and unproductive land. The Applicant will continue to operate the land as a commercial forest, and replant the crop of trees following harvest. The Applicant will acquire the land through its forestry partnership, Forest of Eden Partnership. The Applicant currently has a 50% interest in the partnership but has obtained consent to acquire a 100% interest in the partnership, and therefore the land, in the future. Consent was granted as the Applicant met the investor test criterion and the special forestry test criteria. |
