Background | The Applicant has applied for consent under the special test relating to forestry activities set out in section 16A (4) of the Act. The Land to be acquired is currently in use as a beef farm. The Applicant plans to convert most of the Land to forestry by establishing and maintaining plantation forest (predominantly radiata pine) over approximately 299 hectares. The remainder of the land will be unplanted land associated with forestry areas, including roads and tracks (88.4 hectares) and native bush to be retained (237 hectares). The Land will be planted over the 2021 and 2022 winter planting seasons and the radiata pine will be harvested in 25 to 30 years. |
