Background | The Applicant has applied for consent under the special test relating to forestry activities set out in section 16A(4) of the Act. The Land to be acquired is currently in use as a beef farm. The Applicant plans to convert the majority of the Land to forestry by establishing and maintaining plantation forest (predominantly radiata pine) over approximately 240 hectares. In addition, the Applicant has identified approximately 40 hectares on the better contour of the Land that has the potential for subdivision and sale as lifestyle blocks. The remainder of the land will be unplanted land associated with forestry areas, including roads and tracks (36 hectares) and native bush to be retained (10 hectares). The Land will be planted over the 2021 and 2022 winter planting seasons and will be harvested in 25 to 30 years. |
