Reasons for decision
The Commissioner of Crown Lands has determined that the activity is one which comes within the provisions of Section 66A of the Land Act 1948, and that provided the terms and conditions specified in the permit are adhered to, any potential adverse effects on inherent values that are considered desirable to protect, will be minimised.
Conditions of decision
Consent is granted for filming, subject to the following conditions:
- Not remove any vegetation, disturb any soil or light any fire, other than prescribed in the application, on the Operational Area.
- Not at any time cause any permanent building, erection, structure or fence or alteration or addition thereto to be placed or carried out upon the Operational Area.
- Comply at all times with all statutes and regulations and obtain all approvals, consents and authorisations as are necessary for the Grantee to conduct the activities permitted by this Permit.
- Remove and take away or cause to be removed and taken away all materials, contaminants, human waste, refuse, vehicles, equipment and vegetation placed on the site for the purposes and activities set out in the First Schedule.
- Ensure that any damage or disturbance to the surface of the land as a result of the activities allowed by the Permit is restored to its former condition to the reasonable satisfaction of the Grantor and Lessee.
- Comply with the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
- Hold and maintain a Health & Safety Plan which addresses the hazards and risks associated with operating the activity, including but not limited to, natural risks, weather conditions and personal safety of the cast and crew.
- Ensure that the activities authorised by this permit will be confined exclusively to the Operational Area and use the Operational Area solely for the activities authorised by this permit.
- Take all reasonable precautions to guard against danger on the Grantor’s land.
- Not to interfere or obstruct the Grantor or his/her agent’s employees or contractors or authorised invitees.
- Comply at all times with the provisions of the Biosecurity Act 1993 and the Biosecurity New Zealand guidelines.
- Comply and ensure crew and cast comply with MAF Biosecurity New Zealand, Check, Clean, Dry cleaning methods to prevent the spread of Didymo (Didymosphenia geminate) and other fresh water pests when moving between waterways. - Comply with the “leave no trace” principles, ensure all rubbish is removed and that sites are left in the same or better condition in which they were found.
- All equipment, clothing or footwear that may come into contact with waterways must be cleaned before and after visiting the sites to these standards.
- Be aware that the Operational Area is subject to Part 4A of the Conservation Act 1987, therefore marginal strips may be present within the Operational Area, which are administered by the Department of Conservations and are excluded from this permit.
- Meet all obligations under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) Act 2017, including ensuring that FENZ is notified if a fire is getting out of control or spreading, and taking reasonable steps to reduce the likelihood of harm or damage if you discover a burning or smouldering substance or an ensuing fire.
- No structures or improvements are permitted to be placed or constructed on the Operational Area and no alterations to the natural environment are permitted by this Permit.
Recreation permits granted by the Commissioner of Crown Lands also incorporate (with minor variations) the terms set out in Appendix H of the the Standard for purchase, alienation, and administration of Crown land - LINZS45002.
