Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand has upgraded its website to make it easier for people to find information about New Zealand’s whenua (land), moana (sea) and arawai (waterways).

The new site went live today, Friday 23 September.

Kaihautū Organisational Effectiveness Claire Richardson says the upgrade aims to make the site easier for people to navigate and find the information they require.

“We carried out user research with customers and staff throughout the development to help guide the design.

“We’ve improved the search function and streamlined the layout so it is now quicker and easier for people to find the information they require.”

Ms Richardson says the new site will continue to evolve over time.

“We’re keen to hear from users about how they find the new site and welcome any feedback they may have, as we continue to make improvements to it.

“A great thing about the new platform is that it will allow us to continuously upgrade the site to ensure we are meeting changing user needs and good website practices.”

As part of the upgrade, the Notice to Mariners and the NZ Chart Catalogue are now available on a separate but closely linked website: charts.linz.govt.nz.

The charts website has been separated from the main website to ensure it is as stable and secure as possible going forward.

Note for KnowledgeBase users:

The KnowledgeBase has been replaced by a new Guidance section. Former KnowledgeBase articles have been incorporated in the Guidance section which is organised by topic.

You can refine your search to all pages in the Guidance section or a sub section, such as ‘Land registration’ or ‘Survey’, to get more relevant results.

We’ve worked to set up redirects so your bookmarked pages should redirect to the new pages.
