Proactive release policy

Our proactive release policy aims to promote good government, and foster public trust and confidence.

Toitū Te Whenua is committed to being an open and transparent government department in releasing information that is of value to the public. We believe in promoting good government, fostering public trust and confidence.

Proactive release is part of a wider move to improve the availability of information across government. The Government has committed to improving public sector practices around transparency through the proactive release of information and requests for official information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), as part of New Zealand's Open Government Partnership National Action Plan 2018-2020.

Purpose

This policy provides our underlying principles and guidance on how to conduct proactive releases of official information.
