The standard defines several map projections in terms of the Ross Sea Region Geodetic Datum 2000. These projections are used by Land Information New Zealand for topographic mapping in the Ross Sea Region of Antarctica. They can also be used by other people and organisations for the provision and display of geospatial data within the Ross Sea Region.
This standard replaces the version published on 17 March 2011.
The standard has been amended to enable the projections to be used outside the originally defined spatial extents. This change is primarily to enable the Ross Sea Polar Stereographic 2000 projection to be used further north into the Southern Ocean, thereby avoiding the need to define an additional projection for this purpose.
