This Official Information Act (OIA) response released an excerpt from the 22 June 2023 minutes of Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa New Zealand Geographic Board relating to the proposal to alter Russell to Kororāreka.
The request was for the Board’s discussion and decision on the proposal to change Russell to Kororāreka. Because the Minister for Land Information has not made a final determination on the proposal, information relating to the Board’s decision was withheld in accordance with section 9(2)(g)(i) of the Official Information Act 1982. This is to maintain the effective conduct of public affairs through the free and frank expression of the Board’s opinions in the course of its duty to report its decision to the Minister of Land Information.
