The proposal was to alter the official place name Manawatu District to Manawatū District for the area administered by Manawatu District Council.
Outcome
No change to the current official name.
The Minister for Land Information rejected the proposal on 10 December 2024. The official name of the district remains Manawatu District (official by The Local Government (Manawatu-Wanganui Region) Reorganisation Order 1989, New Zealand Gazette 13 June 1989, No. 99, page 2351).

At its hui on 30 April 2024 the Board considered this submission report, which is updated with the Board’s decision. Because the Board didn’t agree with the objecting submissions received, it requested the Minister for Land Information to make the final determination.
