Summer services update
This report updated Cabinet in November 2022 on the progress of SouthPAN, Toitū Te Whenua and Geoscience Australia’s joint initiative to improve the accuracy of global positioning signals in Australia and New Zealand.
SouthPAN improves free-to-air satellite positioning signals from 10-15 metres to as little as 10cm. It also provides integrity information for positioning, enabling certification for safety-of-life services, such as aviation.
