Pathway(s) | Benefit to New Zealand (Benefit to New Zealand - Farm land) |
Investment | 76.74 ha at 354 Onepuhi Road, Marton, Rangitikei, Manawatu (the Land). |
Consideration | $3,700,000 |
Applicant |
Rangitikei Aggregates Limited |
Vendor | Peter Grant Lovelock, Michele Anne Lovelock, Vanderwood Trustees and Agency Limited New Zealand (100%) |
Background |
The Applicant owns and operates the Kakariki Quarry which supplies a wide range of concrete and asphalt aggregates, sealing chip and basecourses. The Land is currently leased by the Vendor to a third party and used for stock grazing. The Applicant sought and was granted consent to acquire the freehold interest in the Land to create greater certainty around its current business operation, and to allow it to confidently expand the Kakariki Quarry in the future. The Applicant is an important supplier of aggregate in the region from Wellington through to New Plymouth and has provided aggregate for several key roading projects in the lower North Island. The expansion of the Kakariki Quarry will increase production of aggregate to use in local roading projects, extend the life of the existing quarry, and retain and create employment in Marton. |
