What was proposed?
The proposal was to alter the existing unofficial recorded name Kamo to Te Kamo for the suburb approximately 5km north-northwest of Whangārei CBD. Submissions were also invited on the most appropriate extent (boundaries) of the suburb.

Kamo Bank was altered to the official place Te Kamo.

The Board considered this proposal report at its hui on 26 July 2022 and deferred making a decision.
The Board considered this proposal report at its hui on 2 December 2022. The proposal was notified for 3 months so that the public could make submissions supporting or objecting to the name.
The Board considered this submissions report at its hui on 22 June 2023. Because the Board didn’t agree with the objecting submissions, it requested the Minister for Land Information to make the final determination.
