The Cadastral Survey Rules 2021 (CSR 2021) came into effect on Monday 30 August 2021. The rules set the standards on how cadastral surveyors must define and describe land boundaries.
To support surveyors, there is a six-month transition period. During this period (30 August 2021 to 25 February 2022) field work can be undertaken and CSDs can be certified and lodged in terms of either the Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010 or the CSR 2021. After 25 February 2022 CSDs can only be certified in terms of the CSR 2021.
Landonline has been updated to support the capture and validation of surveys under CSR 2021 as well as to support the transition period.
Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand systems and processes have also been updated to support the new rules. A significant amount of work has gone into consulting and communicating with the surveying community and updating support material on our website. Support material for both sets of rules is available during the transition period.
