Geoid transformation grids

Geoid transformation grids are used to convert heights between coordinate systems, such from the historic Local Vertical Datums (LVD) to New Zealand Geodetic Datum 2000 (NZGD2000). This page includes links to geoid transformation grids used in New Zealand.

New Zealand Geoid 2016

New Zealand Vertical Datum 2016 (NZVD2016) is the authoritative height datum for New Zealand, based on New Zealand Geoid 2016 (NZGeoid2016).

The authoritative (described in the EPSG Geodetic Parameter Registry) NZGeoid2016 files are provided as .sid (Sideris grid format) files.

Download

The data values are: nrow, ncolumn, latitude, longitude, delta-latitude (minutes), and delta-longitude(minutes), and the first data value refers to the NW corner of the grid.

New Zealand Geoid 2009

New Zealand Geoid 2009 (NZGeoid09) was the official geoid for New Zealand until it was replaced by the NZGeoid2016 in June 2016. NZGeoid09 was the official geoid for New Zealand Vertical Datum 2009 (NZVD2009).

The authoritative (described in the EPSG Geodetic Parameter Registry) NZGeoid2016 files are provided as .sid (Sideris grid format) files.
