Reasons for decision
Constructing a new track and maintaining the existing tracks will make it easier to use the land for farming purposes. The conditions recommended will promote good management practice and mitigate effects on inherent values.
Conditions of decision
Consent is granted for forming a track and maintaining tracks subject to the following conditions:
- Formation of the new track is restricted to the area marked in green on the attached plan.
- Maintenance of tracks applies to those tracks shown as red or green on the attached plan.
- Disturbance associated with track construction is to be a maximum width of 4 metres.
- No tracking, vegetation clearance, or soil disturbance is to occur in the marked area of rocky outcrops defined in red on the image in Attachment 1 for the new track.
- Track construction must adhere to the guidelines for track construction as appended in Attachment 2.
- Maintenance of existing tracks is confined to the existing footprint of the tracks.
- All machinery used in construction is to be thoroughly cleaned and free of weed seeds.
- The applicant is to obtain any consents required (if any) from the Central and Otago Regional Council prior to construction commencing.
The Crown Pastoral Land Act 1998 provides that permission to undertake the activity may still be needed under other enactments.
