Reasons for decision

The Commissioner has determined the areas consented to clear scrub will both protect the inherent values while controlling bracken fern. The conditions imposed are to ensure that the scrub clearance within the area consented to, does not adversely affect inherent values including cabbage trees that it is desirable to protect.

Conditions of decision

Consent is granted for scrub clearance, subject to the following conditions:

  1. Scrub clearance is limited to the approved spray areas as shown on the attached plan to the Notice of Decision. 
  2. Scrub clearance is limited to the minimum amount necessary to remove the targeted species e.g. bracken fern. 
  3. Scrub clearance is to avoid chemical application close to cabbage trees. 
  4. Scrub clearance applied by chemical is to be in accordance with current best practise guidelines to avoid damage to native vegetation and waterways. 
  5. There shall be no scrub clearance within 20m either side of any waterway or wetland. 
  6. Any helicopter company employed to carry out the spraying shall hold an Agricultural Aircraft Operations 137 certificate. 
  7. That all contractors and employees working on Mt Albert Station under this consent notice are informed of the conditions prior to the works commencing.
