Scheduled Landonline outage for 2022/23 Christmas – New Year break

Landonline (both legacy and new applications), Landonline Web Search, and Land Record Search will not be available from 5pm Saturday 24 December 2022 to 6am Wednesday 4 January 2023 (inclusive).

Christmas Contact Centre hours

On Friday 23 December 2022 the Contact Centre operating hours are 7am – 12pm (noon). The Contact Centre is then closed until Tuesday 3 January, re-opening on Wednesday 4 January 2023. From 4 – 13 January 2023 the Contact Centre will be operating shorter hours from 8am – 5pm.

Survey and titles processing times heading into the Christmas season

Every year we see a significant increase in lodgements of both Survey and Title transactions as we head into the Christmas period. This also means the number of urgent requests we receive increases.

We will continue to work to process transactions in a timely manner and we anticipate having to make difficult decisions to decline requests for urgency, particularly for transactions that are large or complex. We encourage you to plan your transactions with this in mind to avoid the need to rely on urgency request outcomes wherever possible.

New Landonline – Dealings … are you using it yet?

More than 1,900 registered Landonline users are using our new Dealings application – are you one of them? It’s secure, it’s future-proofed, and it’ll make your Dealings transactions easier and faster. The following activities can now be done on the new Dealings application:

  • Discharge Mortgage (DM), Titles (T) and Mortgage (M) dealings end-to-end
  • Settlement day activities for almost all dealing types (certify & sign, release, submit).

  • You can process transactions faster with better data

  • Self-service support is built in.

Notice of Change – 59 councils now using automated service

We’re pleased to advise that conveyancers can now prepare Notices of Change of Ownership (NoCs) for Waipa and Matamata-Piako District Councils using our automated NoC service, as part of your Landonline e-dealing workflow.

This takes the number of New Zealand councils using our automated service to 59 (out of 67).

Reminder: please include client email address

Providing an email address for your clients when completing a NoC enables councils can engage with them seamlessly.

Notices of Change for Veolia Water in Papakura, Auckland

If you’re preparing a Notice of Change (NoC) for Auckland properties around Papakura, please note that NoCs can’t currently be automatically sent to Veolia Water, the company that provides water services for most properties in that area.

Auckland Council has advised that legal professionals should manually forward their completed NoCs to Veolia Water, when relevant.

Veolia advises NoCs can be emailed to them at: nz-customerservice-water@veolia.com

Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand is working on options to further streamline this process for NoC users and will update you when more information is available.

Search results now linked to MLC if identified as Māori Freehold Land

Building on more than a decade of work with Te Kooti Whenua Māori – Māori Land Court (MLC) to improve record matching between Landonline and Māori Land Online, LINZ’s Web Search and public Land Record Search (LRS) customers are now automatically notified if the property they’re searching is identified as Māori Freehold Land.

While LINZ and MLC have been linking the search results since 2003, customers are now automatically notified – and provided with a link – if the property they’re searching is identified in MLC as Māori Freehold Land.

Introduced in November 2022, the notification may include a link directly into Māori Land Online, enabling customers to easily find out more about that land. Clicking the link will open Māori Land Online in a new browser.

The goal is to have all relevant MLC and Landonline records linked, where possible.

Notice to Mortgagee – two new financial institutions sign up

We’re pleased to announce that Resimac Home Loans Limited and Squirrel P2P Trustee Limited are now using our automated Notice to Mortgagee (NtM) service.

This brings the total of financial institutions using this service to 13, including: Westpac, Bank of New Zealand (BNZ), Southland Building Society (SBS Bank), Taranaki Savings Bank (TSB Bank) and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC).

NtM automates the process to simultaneously inform financial institutions and the solicitor (acting on behalf of their client) that a mortgage has been registered against a Record of Title.

Early Otago digital field books now available

We have completed the digitisation and upload of over 1000 of the early Otago Land District cadastral surveyors’ field books into the Recollect system. Otago was one of the earliest Land Districts to start producing books, so this collection contains some of the very earliest volumes.

There are 1063 digitised books that are all over 100 years old. They were sent in from regional offices and were retrospectively numbered, so you might notice some of the books aren’t in chronological age order.

To find an Otago book, go to linz.recollect.co.nz, then scroll down the page to the “Otago” box. Instructions for how to use the search function are listed on the left of the webpage.

There is a “Contact Us” button at the bottom of the screen if you have any questions about the books.

New registration guideline for Maniapoto Claims Settlement Act 2022 published

The Registrar-General of Land has published the Maniapoto Claims Settlement Act 2022 Registration Guideline 2022 - LINZ OP G 01290.

The guideline is primarily for the use of Toitū Te Whenua staff. It focuses on provisions of the Maniapoto Claims Settlement Act 2022 that impact on the registration process and covers registration requirements and memorial formats.
