The Board is Aotearoa New Zealand’s national naming authority and is responsible for consistent, standardised, and accurate official place names in New Zealand, New Zealand’s continental shelf and offshore islands, and New Zealand’s area of interest in Antarctica.
The annual report is available now in English and te reo Māori. Highlights include more than 3,000 place names being considered over the year, including 14 official Moriori place names, and 26 place names reinstated through four Te Tiriti settlements.
