Following public consultation earlier this year, Cabinet has approved changes to survey and title service fees which we anticipate implementing in early 2025.

LINZ charges fees for property title transactions, registering or discharging a mortgage, registering land survey data, and for property and survey search functions.

Fees also support maintaining and upgrading Landonline, the central register of survey and title information, and the wider regulatory processes that ensure the integrity and security of New Zealand’s property system.

The fee increases are designed to address inflation, insulate against property market shifts, and accommodate costs associated with ongoing work to modernise Landonline – allowing LINZ to continue to deliver a world-leading property system.

Summary of updated fees and charges:

  • fees for title and survey plan searches rise from $6 to $8 for each search
  • most common titles transactions rise from $90 to $122
  • most common survey transactions rise from $850 to $1,130.

Before the changes can be made, the associated legislative regulations need to be amended to reflect the new fees and charges. Registered Landonline users will be notified of the implementation date by email once Cabinet has approved the amendments.
