Following public consultation earlier this year, Cabinet has approved changes to survey and title service fees, which will be implemented from Monday 3 February 2025.
LINZ charges fees for property title transactions, registering or discharging a mortgage, registering land survey data, and for property and survey search functions.
Fees also support maintaining and upgrading Landonline, the central register of survey and title information, and the wider regulatory processes that ensure the integrity and security of New Zealand’s property system.
The fee increases are designed to address inflation, insulate against property market shifts, and accommodate costs associated with ongoing work to modernise Landonline – allowing LINZ to continue to deliver a world-leading property system.
Summary of updated fees and charges:
- fees for title and survey plan searches rise from $6 to $8 for each search
- most common titles transactions rise from $90 to $122
- most common survey transactions rise from $850 to $1,130.
Changes to fees and charges will be implemented from Monday 3 February 2025.
