Chatham Islands Geodetic Datum 1971 (CIGD1971)

Chatham Islands Geodetic Datum 1971 (CIGD1971) was previously used to define positions on the Chatham Islands. It was replaced in 1981 by Chatham Islands Geodetic Datum 1979 (CIGD1979), and both were superseded by New Zealand Geodetic Datum 2000 (NZGD2000) from March 1998.

Chatham Islands Geodetic Datum 1971 (CIGD1971) was the official geodetic datum used in the Chatham Islands from 1971. In 1981 the Chatham Islands Geodetic Datum 1979 (CIGD1979) superseded CIGD1971.
