What was proposed?
The proposal was to change the name Takanini to Takaanini, for the suburb in Auckland between Manurewa and Papakura.

Outcome
No change to the current official name.
The Minister for Land information rejected the proposal on 3 December 2024. The official name remains Takanini (official by New Zealand Gazette 16 November 1950, No. 70, page 1989). Takanini also remains officially classified as a locality and not a suburb.

At its hui on 30 April 2024 the Board considered this report on the proposal, which is updated with the Board’s decision. The proposal was notified for three months so that the public could make submissions supporting or objecting to the proposal.
At its hui on 15 October 2024 the Board considered this submission report, which is updated with the Board’s decision. Because the Board didn’t agree with the objecting submissions received, it requested the Minister for Land Information to make the final determination.
