What is proposed?
The proposal is to make Rukuwai the official name of a small mostly channelled stream that rises from springs west of Te Kauwhata and flows for approximately 2.4km into the southwest corner of Whangamarino Wetland.
What happens next?
The Board will consider the submissions received for this proposal at its first hui in 2025. The outcome will be that either the Board itself or the Minister for Land Information will make the final decision. This page will be updated when the final decision is made.

At its hui on 15 October 2024 the Board considered this report on the proposal. The proposal is notified for one month so that the public can make submissions supporting or objecting to the proposed name.
