What the decision relates to
Form tracks
Duration of consent
5 years for the initial work, with ongoing maintenance
Reasons for decision
The Commissioner of Crown Lands has determined that there are benefits to farming from allowing the lessee to form and maintain access tracks and pivot irrigator tracks, and that the conditions above will protect inherent values by minimising the risk of erosion and sediment in run-off, and the importing of weeds onto the lease.
Conditions of decision
Consent is granted for forming tracks, subject to the following conditions:
- Forming vehicle access tracks is approved along the dashed blue lines, and forming pivot irrigator tracks is approved within the areas outlined in blue on the plans attached, subject to the conditions below.
- Any access track soil disturbance is to be kept to a minimum, and any surplus soil placed where it won’t be picked up by run-off and carried into any wetlands, waterways and Lake Aviemore.
- Any disturbed soil is to be re-seeded with a certified weed and impurities-free permanent pasture mix as soon as possible to hasten re-vegetation.
- Any imported track surface material should be from a weed-free source.
The Crown Pastoral Land Act 1998 provides that permission to undertake the activity may still be needed under other enactments.
