Once demolition and remediation are complete, the whenua will be offered back to Ngāti Maniapoto through their Post-Settlement Governance Entity (PSGE), Te Nehenehenui Trust, as part of their Treaty settlement.
Funding has been secured to demolish the buildings and remediate the site. This work is expected to begin in 2025 and will take approximately 4 years.
